Our mission:
The ophthalmology department at the Barzilai University medical center is a leading center with the best high standards of professional and humane treatment and high standards of medical education and research.
The medical staff is committed to the best service to our community, the population of the south of Israel, through rising a group of physicians with diverse specialties who will take over the leadership of ophthalmic medicine and educate new students and interns from Israel and outside Israel to be professional and humane physicians who see the patient at the center their existence.
Our goals:
¶To implement a learning and educational program of the best in the field of ophthalmology for the
medical students and interns.
¶To qualify clinical physicians and researchers who shall be the future leaders and who shall provide
the most advanced medica treatment with respect and compassion to the patient, and who shall
serve their community according to the best tradition of the profession.
¶To move on with the medical and technological advancement for ealy detection and prvention of eye
disease in children and the elderly, and to promote vision saving therapy.
¶To perform original research, integrate with other researchers outside the hospital, and to implement
the knowledge and the therapeutic practice in the department.
¶To verify high standards of ethical and medical care.
