Activity

The plastic surgery unit at the Barzilai university medical center, under the leadership of Dr. Talisman, adopted a strategy of excellence and humanity based on three pillars:

• Professional and quality service without compromise.
• Learning and peer sharing of knowledge.
• Applied research in plastic surgery and specifically in esthetic plastic surgery.

All the medical staff of the department gained a lot of experience in diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation and reconstructive surgery for all ages.

Special fields of Interest and Clinical Research

• Reconstructive surgery of the skull and the neck with special interest in inborn defects, MTF (male to female) reconstructive surgery, and malignant tumors.
• Reconstruction of the breast following tumor resection.
• Reconstruction of skin defects following resection of tumors
• Inborn defects: cleft lip and cleft palate.
• Mammoplasty for medical reasons
• Treatment and reconstructive surgery for burns and wounds that are hard to heal.
• MOHS surgery (Micrographic Surgery)
• Esthetic surgery.
• Cosmetic surgeries: nose, chin lift, liposuction, resection of skin after weight loss and others.

The plastic surgery unit is recognized by the Israel Medical Scientific Council for full residency in plastic surgery.

The physicians of the plastic surgery unit serve the different HMOs and lead lectures in the community and for the young.
