Cooperation contract between the Barzilai Medical Center and the University of Monterrey

Dr. Eduardo Garcia Luna Martinez, the Dean of the Health Science Division at Monterrey University, and Dr. Pablo Vilarial Guara, Head of the Clinical Sciences Division, in Mexico City arrived in Ashkelon, Israel, to sign a cooperation and student exchange contract between the Barzilai Medical Center, Ashkelon and the University of Monterrey. This contract has been made possible following the absorption of few students of medicine and one resident in the Ophthalmology Department at the Barzilai Medical Center, and the mediation of Dr. Keiserman Igor, the deputy director of the Ophthalmology Department.

On Wednesday the 3rd of November, Dr. Eduardo and Dr. Pablo visited the Barzilai Medical Center and met the directors of some medical and surgical departments. They heard from Dr. Hay Emile, the deputy director of the hospital, a review of the hospital, the preparedness for mass casualty cases and the cooperation with the Palestinian authority in treating Palestinian patients. Prof. Anteby, the head of the OBGY department, talked about the residency programs at the hospital and students tutorial, and Prof Yagil, the head of the Nephrology and Hypertension institute, talked about the research and inventions done at the Barzilai Medical Center, specially the endoscopy of the salivary glands. Dr Keiserman talked about the possible fields of future cooperation with the University and the students and physicians exchange programs. The visitors exchanged business cards with the Israeli colleagues and continued for a guided tour through the medical center.

At the end of the tour, Dr Eduardo and Dr. Pablo met Dr. Scharf Shimon, the CEO of the hospital, and Mr. Cohen Eitan, the administrative director of the hospital. Dr. Eduardo talked about the University of Monterrey and the fields of possible cooperation. Both, Dr. Eduardo and Dr. Scharf, signed the contract and exchanged souvenirs.

Dr. Eduardo and Dr. Pablo left the Barzilai Medical Center and made their way to the airport, back to Mexico.
